The Old State House

The Old State House is a brick Georgian-style building that was largely completed in 1762 and used as the meeting place for the colonial and state legislature for 149 years.

Martone managed the comprehensive exterior restoration of the Old State House in Providence, RI to include the installation of a new wood shingled roof, masonry restoration, window and door restoration, metal repairs, preparation for painting, finish painting, and selective site work. Masonry scope involved the repointing, patching, and replacing the historic brownstone and unique brownstone coins and keys around the windows.  A key feature of the building is the signature bell tower.  During this extensive preservation effort, its clock was fixed, and the team made the bell functional again by replicating and building a new bell wheel out of oak.  Both had been inoperable for decades.
